KSSENA held national workshop on energy literacy, which was focused on gaining feedback on yet to be finalized interactive e-course. Workshop was held as a 2 part event, joined by young adults aged 29-39 years. Participants were keen to share their view on “what energy literacy means to them” and were pleasantly surprised on just how broad this topic can be. Realizing there is still much general as well as practical knowledge to be learned and used, they were happy to participate with their feedback on our draft learning programme.
Their feedback, although it showcased there certainly is knowledge, that we can provide to young adults, also showed us where our learning programme can be improved upon. The workshop was useful and educational for both parties - participants as well as for hosts - as it generated mutual discussion on how and what knowledge young adults are capable and willing to accept in the era of mass information. Participants were particularly interested in topics that show practical potential and were directly related to their everyday life and costs of living – how to know how much energy does my household use? What does that mean for my costs? How do my habits influence the environment around me? Finalizing our e-course we now have a better idea on how to equip them with knowledge that is practical and applicable above all.
