On the 30th of March, the EL-Practice Workshop was held in Graz, Austria. The event was organized within the EL-Practice project, which aims to create an e-learning course to promote energy literacy and responsible energy use among individuals. The workshop was held in a hybrid format, with some participants attending in person and others joining via Zoom.
The workshop was structured in two parts – theoretical input and the world café. During the first part, the aim of the workshop was presented, along with the goals and results of the EL-Practice project. First results of the desk research, online survey, and focus group were shared. An overview of the content of the micro-training sessions and an example to give participants a better understanding of how the content would be presented were provided.
During the second part of the workshop, the participants were divided into two groups and asked to write down their thoughts on different topics related to the e-learning course. The topics included what participants liked, what they felt was missing, and any other comments or suggestions they had. Each group had a poster with different colors to represent different aspects of the topics. The online participants were asked to work on a Google Doc in the meanwhile.
After 25 minutes, each group presented their results and then switched to another topic. The workshop in Austria gathered some valuable information to work into the content of the e-learning course of the EL-Practice project. Participants appreciated the personal level of the topics and the gamified aspect but suggested making it less technical and focusing on responsible energy use.
The EL-Practice Workshop was not only useful for the project team, but it also showed that the topic of responsible energy use and sustainability is of great interest to many people. The workshop provided an opportunity for individuals to share their thoughts and ideas, as well as to learn from others. The insights gained from the workshop will help to shape the content of the e-learning course, making it more engaging, relevant, and effective.
