Work on the development of a course to build competences related to conscious energy management has been underway for more than a year. We are delighted to announce that the course will be available in English in January 2024 and in 5 languages shortly thereafter. The training course, consisting of interactive micro-training, through which knowledge can be acquired in small portions, will provide comprehensive knowledge for making better decisions on energy use, which in the long run will improve the household budget, the quality of life but also our environment.
This platform will allow you to delve into 4 different subject areas:
TOPIC 1 - Introduction to energy literacy,
TOPIC 2 - Energy use and Green Deal goals,
TOPIC 3 - Energy-related investments, incentives and subventions,
TOPIC 4 - Positive energy-related behaviors and habits.
We are aware that daily routines significantly limit the time available for personal development, so each topic has been divided into 24 short - 15 minute - sessions, a mix of active and passive ways of acquiring knowledge. This allows you to tailor your learning path to your lifestyle. Each topic will begin with a short text that introduces you to the selected topic, and then allows you to learn using interactive exercises, short videos and other interesting activities. After completing the lesson, you will also have the opportunity to test your knowledge through a short quiz. Since our micro-sessions have limits but energy knowledge does not - there will be useful links included after each lesson which will help you expand your knowledge even further.
The EL-Practice course is designed primarily for:
- young adults (29-39 years old) that are starting or are already creating their own households, in a need of gaining key competencies and understanding of the Energy literacy principles to become more responsible and sustainable energy consumers
- trainers and consultants in various institutions, working with energy consumers (e.g. Energy agencies, NGO's, ...) that are interested to be a part of gaining new knowledge and competencies on energy literacy.
- organisations working in the field of energy production and consumption.
The training will explain what energy is, describe the benefits that households can gain from greener and more informed decisions on sustainable energy consumption. It will introduce the main national and European energy policies and their impact on the lives of energy consumers. It will also present how our habits affect the household (budget, energy consumption, quality of life), but also the environment and our future. In addition, the course will also provide an opportunity to improve digital and language skills, or soft skills such as critical thinking. We invite you to follow our social media to stay up to date!
